Hans is a prince from the Southern Isles, a neighboring kingdom of Arendelle. Not much is known about the prince's past (such as what he looked like when he was young), but he is the youngest of thirteen royal siblings, and was neglected because of this. Knowing he would not live to rule the throne of the Southern Isles, Hans concocted a scheme to marry into monarchy. And when Arendelle is set to have a coronation, he jumps at the opportunity. However, since the to-be queen is far too collected to woo and wed, he instead goes for her younger sister, Anna, planning to murder Queen Elsa after their marriage, thus becoming king (with Anna as his consort). Official Disney Bio "Hans is a handsome royal from a neighboring kingdom who comes to Arendelle for Elsa's coronation. With 12 older brothers, Hans grew up feeling practically invisible—and Anna can relate. Hans is smart, observant and chivalrous. Unlike Elsa, Hans promises he'll never shut Anna out; he just might be the connection she's been waiting for all these years." What do you think of Hans? Obviously, he's the villain in the movie, so most people wouldn't like him, but did you like him before he revealed his "true colors? What was your reaction when he did so? Were you expecting it? Share, share, share!

After Love Is An Open Door...I fell in love with Hans. Then he stabbed me in the back -.- He was so goregous *swoon* He still is but yannow, he's a gorgeous asshole instead.
I think he was a very clever villain and I did not see the twist coming.

Yeah. I did, too. I heard "Love is an Open Door" long before I watched the movie, and I wanted to know who the guy singing was. The name didn't ring a bell, so I went on Disney Wiki to look up who he was in the movie. When I saw Elsa and Anna were in his Enemies list, I knew he would be one of the enemies in the movie, which surprised me based on the song. But I agree, he was very clever and sneaky.

Well, I didn't do any research on Hans before watching the movie, even after I heard Love Is An Open Door, way before I even saw the film.
I really liked Hans. I knew I would probably end up shipping Anna with Kristoff, but I definitely saw Hans as another potential partner for her, and so I thoroughly enjoyed their brief, and untrue romance. I really liked Hans, he seemed very kind and genuine, and when he saved Elsa from that arrow (granted, he threw an ice chandelier on her) I thought he was even more heroic.
But then as Amy said, he stabbed me in the back. He stabbed EVERYONE in the back. I honestly did not see that plot twist coming and I literally gasped out loud! Then I got angry at him for being such a jerk and whatnot, but overall he is an amazing character and a well-written and portrayed villain. Having re-watched it, I'm noticing all the little signs that would hint that his intentions aren't exactly pure, but I never would have noticed that while watching it the first time.

I liked him more the first time I saw Frozen, before he turns out to be well a d-bag. Now, every time I watch it I grimace during his scenes

Like everyone else, I liked Hans when he first showed up in the movie and I really liked him after Love Is An Open Door. I thought that he was perfect for Anna because even after knowing each other for a night, he was so much like Anna. He was sweet, caring and very helpful for looking after Arendelle as Anna went to track down Elsa.
Though when he suddenly turned his back on Anna, that actually was like a slap in a face for me. I honestly wasn't expecting that at all. Whoever did that sudden twist in his character development did a wonderful job because I really thought that Hans was going to end up with Anna and not Kristoff in the end of the movie. But as soon as I found out that jerk's true colors I knew that Kristoff is a better match for Anna.
In general, he is a good character. I like him, but I didn't like how he turned to a big butt face towards the end of the movie.

Yeah. I agree. He seemed like a really nice guy. In fact, I remember I had told my siblings that I thought he was the villain in the movie, but when I saw the movie clip of the song and he spins her around on that tower, I told them to forget it, because it seemed really sweet. ^_^ Too bad he went evil. "Oh, Anna. If only there was someone out there who loved you." I say that line a lot when I'm either watching the clip or listening to the background music of it....

At first, I thought he was an okay guy.
But later on, when we see his true colors, if I'd been standing there, I'd be the guy slowly drawing my sword when he wasn't looking. Followed by arresting him in the name of the Queen.
I think he got off rather light in terms of punishment, if I'd been Elsa, I'd have put the ice magic into his heart and let him turn to solid ice. And just to be extra mean, as his last moments of life end, I'd say, "Is there anyone here who loves him?". Then ship the ice statue to the Seven Isles with a message explaining what happened.
I think in medieval civilizations, if you are caught committing a crime against the reigning monarch, even if you're an Envoy, you are executed for treason.
But I suspect this is a case of "Disney Death", where his brothers or father actually execute him offscreen instead.
Or if there's going to be a sequel, they wanted to keep him alive (in jail) so it's possible he can return and swear revenge on Elsa. Not that I can see that going very well, with full control of her powers, she's too powerful to fight. And he may very well end up being an ice statue after all.
He might go after Anna though, as an easy target, since she has no powers of her own.

What everybody said.
When I first saw how Hans act, he looks really kind. When the "Love is an Open Door" scene started, I thought to myself: "OMG! I hope Hans gets to marry Anna! THEY'LL BE A PERFECT COUPLE". I really thought they're gonna marry in the end but I guess I was wrong. When Hans was about to kiss Anna, I was like "OMG OMG OMG. PERFECT COUPLE. PERFECT COUPLE." but then he suddenly turned into a bad guy, my only reacion was "WHAT?". What the heck, why make him evil? Oh well, we still have Kristoff. lol.

Ok, here goes. Buck, don't really worry on this one, it's pretty much what we've said before Hans at least deserves a little respect. Just think how smart and witty he was throughout the whole movie. I mean, how many of the audience expected him to be a villain? He managed to trick and manipulate everyone. Not only how he quickly bond Anna for wedding, but also the way he became likeable to the people of Arendelle. Then, he was also brave. Just think that he risked himself against the giant snowman (Marshmallow). Then, there's also the fact that he cleverly shot the chandelieur, so Elsa's death would appear as an accident. Hans is awesome because he stood so little chances, especially against magic, and yet he came so close to achieving it. It takes guts to do such thing. He sure is a prick, but I found him really smart, outwitting everyone. And let's face it, frozen Anna would normally get shattered instead of dropping Hans unconscious. It's just that....a simple person cannot deal with magic, any way possible =p. A small importnat part to be noted is this: Hans did face obstacles which he would just not deal with. Sure he wouldn't get far without his schemes and plots. The fact that he was unable to do anything against anyone apart from outwitting them, sure sounds downgrading. But let's face it. He was very close to achieving his goal, wasn't he? Trying to kill Elsa and making it look like an accident, but sure the point of how cleverly he brought Anna's death up, was mostly why I admired him. Most people claim "OMG he's so mean, he wants to kill her and first he tells her such bad things, he enjoys it and bla bla bla". No matter what, if he hadn't done so, like just take out his sword and charged on Elsa, one on one, HOW many chances would he stand against her? I mean, she already exploited a bit against the 2 bodyguards. No, one thing for sure is that on such occasions (I may sound evil now, but it must be said ), you just don't go all out manly to show what you're made of. Since he was obviously a "brains over brawn" folk, he did what he best could Ok, now the fact that both Anna and Kristoff (cutscene) punched him...well, he deserved it for sure xD Nevertheless, he was awesome. TEH END (Teh completely intentional )

how could someone so hot be so devious? just sayin ;-)
anyways, jokes aside, i honestly felt like this was going to be another mushy romance story that disney would tack onto the characters without question (though i was elated when Kristoff and Elsa pointed out the obvious). I do have to admit, however, that I grew to like him after "Love is an Open Door". I felt that he would be a very trustworthy fellow, especially because he took great care of Arendelle while both members of the royal family were gone.
Like nearly everyone else here, i was blown away after he ditched Anna and pretty much hated his guts. but, at the same time, i wonder how his backstory goes. i find him to be a manipulative little butt with an interesting persona.

And referring to your earlier post, he is quite smart considering he got away with everything until the end. Just think about it: If Olaf, someone (or some thing) he didn't even know was alive, didn't come to save Anna, his plan would've worked. I mean, I doubt the guards would allow Kristoff into the room and Anna would've been an ice statue by then. It would give Hans the perfect motive to either kill Elsa or imprison her with treason. Pretty smart even though it was a naughty scheme.

Yeah, he was a great actor. Up until the moment he pulls back from the kiss and does the evil riposte, I had no idea he was actually evil, I thought he was just misguided. But there was a little doubt in my mind about how aggressive he is when Anna gives him a small amount of power. It's like his true colors are showing a little when he says the line about Anna chose him and challenging him is treason.
I'm assuming Elsa's magic makes ice that is harder then normal, the equivalent of perfect diamond (which is unbreakable by anything other then something else made of perfect diamond). To clarify, no diamond is perfect, that's physically impossible under natural conditions, but it might be possible to do it artificially. Which is probably why Anna didn't shatter from the impact of the sword, she was just too hard. Or it could be that to convert living tissue to ice is a different process from changing water to ice, which requires a stronger level of molecular bonding.
