I hope this is okay, but we need a thread about the incredibly talented Idina Menzel (trying hard to contain the normal sighing that comes with her name as I just love this woman). The whole reason I wanted to go see Frozen initially was because of her, and not only did she do a brilliant job, but she was part of such a wonderful movie. I love her enthusiasm for the movie. Elsa is my favourite character (although I really do love Anna as well) and Idina performs her just brilliantly As a fan of hers I am so incredibly happy for this movie to be doing so well, she deserves all the happiness and success. She's such a brilliant singer/ actress/ performer and an all round incredible woman. Okay I shall stop now or else you'll never get me to stop gushing over her Attachments:

That's perfectly fine! I agree; she is absolutely amazing in this role. I love her in every role I've seen her in though ahaha x) She pulled off a 21 year old Queen better than I first thought she would!

I have to admit, before Frozen, I had only seen her in one thing: Disney's Enchanted. I personally didn't like her in that. I remember I had one of my friends come over one night in September, and we were watching Enchanted, and she mentioned that Menzel had a beautiful voice. I hadn't heard her sing before, so i couldn't agree or disagree with her. When I saw that interview that the picture in the original post is from, I was all like, "wait, Idina Menzel is voicing Elsa? Interesting." She does have a great voice, like my friend had said, and I think she did a GREAT job with Elsa, my favorite character (if you couldn't tell already xD). All the emotion throughout the movie was great. She really did a great job.

I LOVE Idina Menzel! I really didn't discover her until I watched RENT a few years back and fell in love with her portrayal of Maureen Johnson (actually I love that entire movie/musical). After that I dug a little deeper and discovered Wicked, which is one of my all-time favourite musicals even though I haven't seen it on stage. But I've devoured several video clips, photos and of course I know pretty much the entire soundtrack by heart. Like QueenElsa, the first thing I had seen her in was Disney's Enchanted. I was pretty neutral to her character back then, since I was just a kid, which is why I didn't recognize her at first as Maureen.
But after connecting all the dots and falling in love with this woman's amazing talent and mindblowing voice, I was absolutely DELIGHTED to find she was going to voice Elsa, which was one of the many reasons why I was excited about the movie. And boy oh boy, did she ever do an amazing job! The emotion, the singing, the acting... Just wow! She IS Elsa. I honestly don't think anyone could've portrayed her as well as Idina did.
Also, can we talk about Idina's performance at the Tony Awards from her new Broadway show "If/Then"? I thought it was incredible! What a voice on her! If I was in New York I would go see this show without a doubt.

I've never seen RENT so I can't relate to that at all (although I listened to "Take Me or Leave Me" once and immediartely recognized it as her voice). Anyways, I recently saw Enchanted again, and...she's just not shown enough (in my opinion) to have a firm opinion on her in that movie. I agree. She is THE Elsa, just like how she's THE Elphaba. I can't see anyone nailing Elsa the way she did. ^_^ As for that clip, I laughed when Jonathan Groff said "The wickedly talented, one and only...", and I was honestly expecting him to say "Adele Dazeem" (although I'm glad he didn't). As for the song, I totally agree with you. If I could go see it, I probably would. When she was singing, I didn't think of Elsa, though. I thought of Elphaba more (I just can never picture Elsa in my mind for some reason with watching her). But she did a marvelous job, as always.

I assume Idina has done other film roles, but Nancy Tremaine is the only one I can bring to mind. At least, it's the only one I've ever seen. An interesting foreshadowing that she becomes a cartoon character at the end of that movie and her next significant role was to play an animated character, even if the image was CGI and not 2D.

I love her as Nancy in Disney's Enchanted, and of course as the amazing Elphaba in Wicked ^_^
