Both wonderful Disney movies, although I personally prefer Frozen. In the movie, it was shown very briefly, but it did confirm that Tangled exists in the same universe as Frozen. For a very short moment, while Anna is singing "For The First Time in Forever", just as they open the gates you see Rapunzel and her husband Eugene Fitzherbert (also commonly known as Flynn Rider) arriving at the coronation.
I definitely didn't spot it the first time I saw the movie, but after it got pointed out to me, I've seen it every time. Now, since this has happened, there have been various 'head canons' going around Tumblr and various other places on the internet. One I found particularly interesting. I saw this one on Tumblr and I can't seem to find the post so I'll sum it up here. Pictures included!
Anna and Elsa's mother looks quite similar to Rapunzel's mother.

And here's a shot of Elsa and Anna's mother (and father):
There are definitely some small similarities.
Now, Tangled came out three years before Frozen. The gap between the king and queens death and Elsa's coronation is also three years. What I saw on Tumblr was a theory that Rapunzel's mother and Elsa and Anna's mother were sisters. They both married into royalty. When Rapunzel and Eugene decided to get married, queen Primrose (Rapunzel's mother) may have sent an invitation to the king and queen of Arendelle to attend their daughter's wedding. So they board the boat, manage to get to the wedding, but on the way back they unfortunately end up lost at sea.
Three years pass and it's time for Elsa's coronation. Remember, Frozen was released 3 years after Tangled, making the timeline pretty spot on. Rapunzel and Eugene are invited, and maybe they go because they want to, or because they feel guilty about what happened to the king and queen of Arendelle. Either way, they board the boat, leave Germany and head for Norway to attend Elsa's coronation.
Another thing to keep in mind is the idea that Rapunzel is Elsa and Anna's cousin. If she were their cousin, how do you think she'd react to Elsa's powers? Would she and Eugene stick around after summer is brought back and try to get to know Anna and Elsa? Perhaps ask about the snow thing?
OR, do you perhaps think they were just a guest at the coronation and the family ties aren't there? Do you think the three year timeline is just a coincidence?
What do YOU think? Head canons are welcome!
